Marton House, situated in the heart of the Eden Valley in Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria, offers high class B & B accommodation as well as providing a perfect Wedding venue for your civil ceremony and marriage celebrations. It is also a suitable venue for wedding vow renewals or baby naming ceremonies and is a wonderful setting and atmosphere for short breaks, holidays and family events.

Marton House was built by Ignatius Bonomi at the beginning of the 19th Century in an area of outstanding natural beauty surrounded by exceptional grounds boasting the largest example in the country of a Weeping Copper Beech tree and a fine example of Cedar of Lebanon. The house is considered one of the finest houses in the north of England.

It is within this environment that Christine and Martyn Knight open the doors of their home to welcome you as their guests to come and relax and enjoy the many varied and interesting activities close by in Cumbria and the Lake District, to include excellent walking, climbing, riding, fishing, bird-watching, clay shooting and golf with one of the most impressive Moorland courses in the North, in Appleby close by.

Appleby is an outstanding small town dominated by a substantial castle around which the River Eden forms a large loop. Appleby is renowned for its Horse Fair held in June each year and for the Appleby Jazz Festival in July. The settle to Carlisle railway can be picked up at Appleby where the old steam train runs regularly.

Penrith was once the capital of Cumbria and now the bustling heart of the Eden Valley.
